Already in the round of 64 of the FA Cup, a ruthless lot brought Arsenal and Liverpool together!
Back in mid-December, Arsenal confidently beat Brighton 2:0, after which they stumbled in three matches in a row with Liverpool (1:1), West Ham (0:2) and Fulham (1:2). Given the tightness at the top of the table, it is not at all surprising that the Gunners have dropped straight to fourth position and worsened their title chances.
At the same time, Liverpool avoided defeat in duels with Manchester United (0:0), West Ham (5:1), Arsenal (1:1), Burnley (2:0) and Newcastle (4:2). And it is the Reds who, at the equator of the season, lead the Premier League standings, three points ahead of their closest pursuers.
Both teams have incredible attacking potential, but often make productive mistakes in defense. We wouldn’t be surprised if the head-to-head battle between Arsenal and Liverpool ends in an exchange of goals.
