Atalanta will look to avenge last week’s defeat to Borussia Dortmund as the sides meet again in the Champions League Round of 32.
A spirited 2–1 comeback win over Napoli lifted the Bergamo club to seventh in Serie A and kept their hopes of a top-four finish alive. Gian Piero Gasperini’s team has now reached the knockout phase of Europe’s top competition for a second straight season, an impressive achievement that could have been even greater had they not suffered a narrow 1–0 loss to Union Saint-Gillois in the final round of the league stage.
Borussia Dortmund arrived at this stage with similar ambitions but were forced into extra playoff matches after costly defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Inter.
