Austria vs Tunisia Prediction 1 June 2026

Austria national football team will host Tunisia national football team in a friendly match on June 1 in Vienna.

With the World Cup approaching, both sides are using these fixtures to fine-tune their preparations, and Austria will likely view this encounter as valuable practice against an African opponent before facing Algeria in the group stage.

Austria enjoyed a successful qualification campaign, securing first place in its group ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ralf Rangnick’s side once again impressed with its high-intensity pressing and defensive organization, conceding very few goals throughout qualification. The Austrians have continued that form in recent friendlies, comfortably defeating Ghana before edging past South Korea. Austria rarely allows opponents much space in dangerous areas and generally prefers to control matches through aggressive pressing and disciplined positioning.

Tunisia also booked its place at the World Cup after an excellent qualifying campaign. The North African side finished top of its group without suffering a defeat and once again demonstrated why defensive stability remains one of its biggest strengths. Although Tunisia failed to make a deep run at the Africa Cup of Nations, recent friendly results against Haiti and Canada highlighted the team's ability to remain compact and difficult to break down. Matches involving Tunisia are often tight, tactical affairs with limited scoring opportunities.

In our opinion, goals may be difficult to come by in this matchup. Austria's defensive structure under Rangnick has been extremely effective, while Tunisia traditionally prioritizes organization and discipline over attacking risk. With both teams focusing on preparation rather than chasing a result at all costs, a cautious contest appears more likely than an open shootout.

Prediction: Under 2.5 goals — 1.92
