The second semi-final of the Italian Super Cup between Bologna and Inter is scheduled for Friday evening.
Bologna currently sit sixth in Serie A, just five points adrift of the Champions League places. However, December exposed some fragility for the Rossoblù. Despite a respectable 2–1 Europa League win over Celta Vigo, their domestic form dipped, with disappointing results against Cremonese (1–3), Lazio (1–1), and Juventus (0–1).
Inter, by contrast, arrive in far stronger shape. The Nerazzurri recorded convincing victories over Lazio (2–0), Pisa (2–0), Como (4–0), and Genoa (2–1), with their only recent blemish coming in the 0–1 derby defeat to Milan. As a reminder, Inter are competing in the Super Cup as runners-up in Serie A, having ended last season without a single trophy.
That drought should serve as a powerful motivator. Inter’s squad quality, depth, and big-match experience clearly outweigh Bologna’s, and with silverware on the line, the Milanese side are unlikely to hold back. I expect Inter to assert their superiority and settle the tie within regulation time.
