Carabobo F.C. vs Botafogo de Furebol e Regatas Prediction 7 May 2025

In the fourth round of the Copa Libertadores group stage, reigning champions Botafogo travel to Venezuela to face Carabobo, one of the tournament’s clear underdogs.

Carabobo, currently leading Group B in the Venezuelan league after a 3-1 win over Metropolitanos, has struggled on the continental stage. With just one point from three games—drawn against Universidad de Chile (1:1) and losses to Estudiantes (0:2) and Botafogo (0:2)—the Grenades sit at the bottom of their Libertadores group and have shown little promise of turning things around.

Botafogo, despite their pedigree, haven't had it all their way either. After defeating Carabobo in the reverse fixture, they suffered narrow 0-1 defeats to both Universidad de Chile and Estudiantes, slipping to third in their group. Domestically, their form has also dipped, with a recent 0-1 loss to Baia leaving them stuck in mid-table mediocrity in the Brasileirao.

Still, the quality gap between the sides is clear. Even with their current inconsistency, Botafogo possess the depth and experience to dominate a team of Carabobo’s level. The Venezuelan outfit may be at home, but that’s unlikely to tilt the scales. Expect the Brazilians to come away with all three points and strengthen their push for a top-two finish in the group.
