This coming Tuesday, Chelsea will try to erase the one-goal gap to Middlesbrough in the second semi-final of the English League Cup!
Towards the middle of the league season, Chelsea picked up good momentum and won three victories in a row over Crystal Palace (2:1), Luton (3:2) and Fulham (1:0), which lifted them to ninth place in the Premier League. As for the League Cup, the Blues dealt with Wimbledon (2:1), Brighton (1:0) and Blackburn (2:0).
On the way to a rather unexpected League Cup semi-final, Middlesbrough defeated Huddersfield (3:2), Bolton (3:1), Bradford (2:0) and Exeter (3:2) - far from the most powerful level of opposition. At the same time, in the League, Boro are in the middle of the peloton with good chances of getting involved in the fight for promotion in class.
We have no doubt that Chelsea are motivated to reach the League Cup final and aim for at least one trophy at the end of the campaign. To do this, the Blues will have to show their best qualities and make a comeback in the duel with Middlesbrough.
