Club Brugge KV vs Atletico Madrid Prediction 18 February 2026

Club Brugge host Atlético Madrid this Wednesday in the first round of the Champions League playoffs, with both sides arriving under very different pressures.

The Belgian side remain the second force domestically and come into this clash on a high after a crucial 2–1 derby win over Cercle Brugge. In Europe, the Blue and Blacks squeezed into the top 24 with a heroic 3–0 victory over Marseille in the final round, having also impressed earlier with a 4–1 demolition of Kairat.

Atlético Madrid, by contrast, missed out on a top-eight finish late on after dropping points against Galatasaray (1–1) and Bodø/Glimt (1–2). Diego Simeone’s side were also rocked by a surprising 3–0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano last weekend, raising further concerns about their form away from home, which has been shaky throughout the season.

Given Atlético’s travel struggles and Brugge’s resilience on their own turf, this has the feel of a tightly contested first leg. The visitors will push for an away goal, but against a disciplined and confident Brugge side, it’s hard to see them keeping a clean sheet.

Both teams to score 1.55
