In a recent announcement, DAZN revealed plans to launch its app on Sky UK's platform in 2024, providing an additional avenue for UK and Ireland subscribers to access a diverse range of sports content!
The streaming service, known for its prominence in boxing broadcasting, aims to facilitate easier access for customers alongside other streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.
DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing the positive impact on both DAZN and Sky customers. The integration allows Sky customers to sign up for DAZN's service on platforms such as Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q, offering flexible and accessible price plans to access an extensive array of sports content.
Among the highlighted content are top-tier boxing and MMA matchups, the UEFA Women's Champions League, and the Saudi Pro League. DAZN, based in London, has expanded its sports coverage beyond boxing to include football, securing domestic broadcasting rights to Serie A in Italy and making notable strides in football broadcasting, particularly in the Saudi Pro League and Women's Champions League.
Beyond broadcasting, DAZN has ventured into the betting space, launching DAZN Bet last year to explore the convergence between media and sports entertainment wagering. Segev emphasized DAZN's distribution strategy to reach as many sports fans as possible, with Sky's technology aiding in expanding the platform's presence in homes across the UK and Ireland.
In addition to this development, reports surfaced indicating DAZN's intent to raise up to $1 billion to support its ongoing global expansion. Bloomberg reported that DAZN officials have engaged in discussions with potential investors to secure capital as part of a potential investment round, with the suggested fundraising amount of $1 billion coming from an undisclosed source.
