Deportivo Alaves vs Real Madrid CF Prediction 14 December 2025

In Matchday 16 of La Liga, a slightly wobbly Real Madrid head to one of the league’s more awkward hosts in Alavés.

Alavés have been patchy over the last month, but at Mendizorrotza they’ve shown they can be a real problem: home wins over Espanyol (2–1) and Real Sociedad (1–0) with a three-game losing streak in between — Girona (0–1), Celta (0–1), and Barcelona (1–3). Sitting 11th on 18 points with a 13–15 goal difference is pretty much a perfect snapshot of their current level: competitive, scrappy, but not consistent.

Madrid, of course, live in a different universe of expectations. Even second place with 36 points, 32–15 on goals, and a four-point gap to the leaders doesn’t feel “good enough.” And the form is what makes it feel like a mini-crisis: yes, there’s a convincing 3–0 win in the mix, but it’s been padded by a string of stumbles — draws with Rayo Vallecano (0–0), Elche (2–2), Girona (1–1), and a damaging 0–2 loss to Celta Vigo.

Historically, this is a trip Madrid usually manages well — but with their rhythm clearly off right now, it’s not crazy to think Alavés can make life uncomfortable early. If the home side start aggressively and keep their structure, they’ve got a decent shot at staying alive for at least the first half — the kind of game where “Alavés to avoid defeat in 1H” / “Madrid to win but not comfortably” logic starts to make sense.
