Ecuador vs Brazil Prediction 6 June 2025

One of the most intriguing clashes of the 15th round in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup sees Ecuador hosting Brazil.

Surprisingly sitting second in the table with 23 points and a strong goal difference of 13:5, Ecuador is on the verge of securing its spot in the Mundial. The Tricolors are in excellent form, going unbeaten in their last five outings — defeating Bolivia (4:0), Colombia (1:0), and Venezuela (2:1), while holding both Uruguay and Chile to goalless draws. Their defensive solidity, especially at home, has been a defining feature of their campaign.

Brazil, currently fifth with 21 points and a 20:16 goal record, is not performing at the dominant level traditionally expected from the Seleção. Despite convincing home wins over Peru (4:0) and Colombia (2:1), they’ve stumbled with draws against Venezuela (1:1) and Uruguay (1:1), and suffered a heavy 1:4 loss to Argentina. The appointment of Carlo Ancelotti brings hope for renewed consistency, but Brazil still has work to do to reassert control over their qualifying destiny.

Ecuador's home form and low-scoring, tightly contested matches suggest that this encounter may follow a similar pattern. Given the stakes and recent tendencies of both sides, this is unlikely to be a high-scoring affair, and another match falling short of the "over" total looks very much on the cards.
