Galaxy Entertainment Backs Local Businesses with Two-Day “Made in Macau” Showcase

Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has reaffirmed its support for local businesses and emerging entrepreneurs by hosting a two-day market event in collaboration with the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (MYEIC).

The initiative, held at Galaxy Macau, formed part of the widely recognised “Large Businesses Leading Small Businesses” programme, which aims to strengthen ties between major corporations and local SMEs.

Branded as the “Made in Macau” market, the event brought together ten local small businesses and start-ups, giving them the opportunity to showcase their products, promote their brands and pitch directly to GEG staff. The participating companies represented a variety of sectors, with a strong focus on cultural goods, artisanal food products and creative local craftsmanship.

To maximise the impact for exhibitors, GEG waived all booth and participation fees, while also launching internal promotions to drive foot traffic and visibility. The approach not only generated sales and exposure for the companies involved, but also underscored the growing appeal of locally sourced products among both residents and visitors.

Andy Ng, Director of MYEIC, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, noting that the partnership “not only opens the channel for local SMEs and start-ups to connect, but also enhances the visibility of locally made products.” He added that the initiative reflects GEG’s long-term commitment to supporting small enterprises and contributing to Macau’s ongoing economic diversification.

A distinctive feature of this year’s market was that it was fully organised by a youth-led start-up team, the winners of the “Made in Macau” Event Organiser Competition. Their role in planning and executing the event provided valuable hands-on experience and came with a MOP 200,000 (US$24,961) prize, intended to further support their development as young professionals in the event industry.

Peter Chow, GEG’s Senior Vice President of Procurement and Warehousing, said the company was pleased to co-host both the market and the organiser competition with MYEIC. “Through this platform, we aim to encourage young entrepreneurs to unleash their creativity and strengthen their professional skills,” he said. Chow added that GEG also hopes the initiative will create meaningful new business opportunities for SMEs and support their sustainable growth.

Overall, the two-day market reinforced GEG’s role as a major corporate partner for local enterprises and provided a practical pathway for young entrepreneurs to gain industry experience.
