Morocco vs Burundi Prediction 26 May 2026

Morocco national football team will host Burundi national football team in an international friendly match as both sides continue preparations for upcoming official competitions.

The difference in class between the teams is significant, with Morocco currently ranked among the strongest national teams in the world, while Burundi remain outsiders against high-level opposition. Even though this is only a friendly, the hosts will still be expected to dominate from the opening minutes and deliver an entertaining performance in front of their home supporters.

Morocco continue to confirm their status as one of Africa’s elite football nations. Walid Regragui’s side has shown excellent consistency in recent matches, combining defensive stability with dangerous attacking play. The Atlas Lions have won four of their last five games, recording victories over Senegal, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Paraguay, while also earning a draw against Ecuador. Morocco rarely allows opponents many clear opportunities and looks especially confident on home soil, where the team traditionally controls possession and dictates the tempo from start to finish.

Burundi, meanwhile, continue to struggle against stronger opposition. The visitors are capable of producing solid performances against teams of a similar level, but the gap in quality becomes obvious in matches against organized and technically superior opponents. Burundi lost three of their last five matches and failed to score in all of those defeats. Away from home, the team often sits very deep defensively, but sustained pressure regularly leads to mistakes and defensive breakdowns.

Morocco will be without several important players for this friendly, as the coaching staff decided to rest a number of stars following a long club season. Despite those absences, the hosts still possess significantly more quality and depth across every area of the pitch. Burundi rely mainly on domestic-based players and lack the squad depth needed to compete at this level for the full 90 minutes.

In our opinion, Morocco should comfortably secure victory here and are capable of covering a large handicap. The hosts remain extremely strong at home and will likely use this match to test attacking combinations and maintain momentum ahead of future tournaments. Burundi usually struggles defensively against stronger teams and may find it very difficult to contain Morocco’s pressure throughout the match.

Prediction: Morocco to win with a -2.5 Asian handicap — 2.35
