Olympique de Marseille vs Stade Brestois 29 Prediction 27 April 2025
Added on 25 April, 2025
The thirty-first round of Ligue 1 wraps up on Sunday night with a matchup between a struggling Marseille and mid-table Brest.
Despite their current second-place standing with 55 points and a goal difference of 62:42, Marseille have shown serious signs of instability in recent weeks. They’ve suffered heavy defeats to PSG (1:3), Reims (1:3), and Monaco (0:3), exposing defensive frailties that their recent wins over Toulouse (3:2) and Montpellier (5:1) haven’t quite masked. Roberto De Zerbi’s men might still be in a strong league position, but their form is far from convincing as the season enters its final stretch.
Brest, meanwhile, have slipped to ninth after last year’s incredible third-place finish, currently sitting on 44 points with a nearly even goal tally of 48:49. Their recent results reflect that inconsistency: a goalless draw with Reims, high-scoring wins over Toulouse (4:2) and Monaco (2:1), a dramatic 3:3 draw with Saint-Etienne, and a 1:3 defeat to Lens. While no longer the surprise package of last season, Brest have retained enough attacking firepower to remain dangerous, especially against teams with shaky backlines.
Marseille may have the edge in terms of overall quality and home support, but their leaky defense continues to be a problem. Given Brest’s ability to find the net even against stronger opposition, it wouldn’t be surprising to see both teams get on the scoresheet — and there’s every chance the match could feature three or more goals.
