Seattle Sounders FC vs Columbus Crew Prediction 7 July 2025
Added on 05 July, 2025
Monday night’s MLS fixture sees Seattle Sounders host Columbus Crew in what promises to be a lively and evenly matched contest.
Seattle enters the game after a challenging stint at the Club World Cup, where they suffered three straight defeats to Botafogo, Atlético Mineiro, and PSG, conceding seven goals and scoring only twice. However, their domestic form has been steadier. The Sounders currently sit fifth in the Western Conference with 29 points and a narrow goal difference of 27:25. Recent results include wins over Dallas (1:0), San Diego (1:0), and Austin (2:0), but also defeats to Minnesota (2:3) and Vancouver (0:3), showing inconsistency on both ends of the pitch.
Columbus, meanwhile, are enjoying a more confident spell. They rebounded strongly from a heavy 1:5 defeat to Inter Miami and a 2:2 draw with Nashville, stringing together wins over Vancouver (2:1), Atlanta (3:1), and Philadelphia (1:0). With 37 points and a goal difference of 33:26, the Crew are firmly in fourth place in the Eastern Conference and look like genuine playoff contenders.
Although both teams have shown their strengths, particularly at home, it’s hard to ignore the travel fatigue and psychological wear that Seattle may still be dealing with after their Club World Cup campaign. Even so, the Sounders are a tough opponent at Lumen Field, and their recent clean-sheet wins at home suggest they’re still a force when conditions suit them. Columbus, however, are capable of exploiting defensive gaps with their sharp attacking transitions.
Given both sides’ tendency to perform well at home and their ability to score, a high-tempo, goal-filled match is very much on the cards. A draw or narrow home win seems most likely, with plenty of action expected at both ends.
