SK Brann vs FC Red Bull Salzburg Prediction 23 July 2025
Added on 21 July, 2025
This Wednesday in Bergen, Brann will host Salzburg in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
For the Norwegian side, mere participation at this stage is already a notable achievement, given the club’s modest resources and limited European experience. Domestically, Brann’s recent form has been somewhat mixed: they’ve secured wins over Sannefjord (1-0) and Viking (3-1), drawn 1-1 with Ham-Kam, and suffered a 0-2 defeat to KFUM Oslo, leaving them third in the Eliteserien standings.
Salzburg, on the other hand, are far more seasoned in European competitions but are entering this campaign under less-than-ideal circumstances. Having failed to retain their Austrian Bundesliga title last season, finishing second, the Red Bulls find themselves needing to fight for a Champions League berth through qualifiers. Their summer has not been entirely convincing either — a disappointing Club World Cup was followed by friendlies against Qarabag (2-1 win) and Derby (1-2 loss), which hardly suggest Salzburg are at full strength.
While Salzburg remain favorites on paper due to their greater squad depth and European pedigree, the trip to Norway won’t be straightforward. Brann are in competitive rhythm and should be able to make life uncomfortable for the visitors. A draw or even a narrow home win would not be surprising.
