Southampton and Wrexham will kick off the Championship season on Saturday in a matchup that pits recent Premier League experience against a fast-rising lower-league challenger.
Southampton are looking to bounce back after a dismal Premier League campaign last season, where they finished bottom of the table with just 12 points. However, their pre-season offered a mix of signs: wins over Eastleigh and Valenciennes were tempered by draws against Castellón and Brighton, as well as a home defeat to Espanyol. Still, the Saints look sharper and more settled under their current setup.
