The opening matchday of the Austrian Bundesliga will see newly-promoted Ried host powerhouse Red Bull Salzburg this Saturday.
After topping the second division last season, Ried earned their return to the top flight and have been actively preparing over the summer. The Black and Greens played seven friendlies, showing mixed form — they beat Energie (2:1) and Parndorf (5:0), but fell to Amstetten (2:3), indicating some inconsistency in defense.
Salzburg, meanwhile, appear sharper heading into the campaign.
