West Ham United F.C. vs Chelsea F.C. Prediction 22 August 2025
Added on 20 August, 2025
The second round of the Premier League brings us a heated London derby as West Ham host Chelsea at the Olympic Stadium.
West Ham endured a disastrous campaign last season, finishing just 16th, narrowly escaping the drop. The summer transfer window did little to strengthen David Moyes’ squad, and the opening round only deepened concerns — the Hammers collapsed to a 0-3 defeat against Sunderland, raising questions about both form and morale.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are in a more stable position, though not without issues of their own. The Blues were held to a 0-0 stalemate at home against Crystal Palace, a result that fell short of expectations. Still, Enzo Maresca’s side can take confidence from their recent triumph at the Club World Cup, where they convincingly dismantled PSG 3-0 in the final.
Both sides currently look far stronger defensively than in attack, and neither has shown the cutting edge needed to produce high-scoring encounters. Given the circumstances, this derby has all the makings of a cagey, tactical battle where under 3 total goals seems a realistic outcome.
