Betano Launches Long-Term Partnership with Romanian Paralympic Committee to Support Wheelchair Basketball
Last update: 14 December, 2025
The collaboration is centered on wheelchair basketball and was formalized through Betano’s role as the main supporter of the National Wheelchair Basketball Championship, recently held in Sibiu.
The agreement represents a strategic expansion of Betano’s social responsibility efforts, with a clear focus on long-term development rather than short-term promotional activity. According to the operator, the partnership will concentrate on improving infrastructure, supporting athlete development, and increasing access to specialised resources for adaptive sports participants across the country.
As part of the collaboration, Betano will support tournaments designed to strengthen competitive opportunities for wheelchair basketball players, while also funding development workshops aimed at athletes, coaches, and support staff. In addition, the operator will contribute high-performance, specialised equipment intended to raise training and competition standards within the sport.
Beyond the sporting framework, the initiative also includes a strong social and healthcare component. Betano will donate 20 new wheelchairs to patients supported by the OncoHelp Association, linking the partnership to broader goals around social inclusion, mobility, and patient support. This element underlines the operator’s intention to extend the impact of the programme beyond elite competition and into the wider community.
Betano stated that the partnership is structured to deliver measurable social outcomes, aligning its sporting investments with sustainable development objectives. By collaborating with the Romanian Paralympic Committee, the operator positions itself alongside key national sports institutions at a time when gambling companies are increasingly reassessing how corporate social responsibility initiatives are designed and implemented.
The move in Romania follows similar initiatives by Betano in other markets, where the brand has connected social responsibility programmes with sport, education, and harm-reduction frameworks. The operator confirmed that the partnership is expected to continue beyond individual tournaments, with additional activities planned under the agreed framework.
Commenting on the initiative, Betano said on social media: “This is what real impact looks like, turning passion into progress and challenges into victories. Together, we make the impossible possible. For real. Pe bune.” The use of the Romanian phrase “pe bune,” meaning “for real,” reflects the company’s effort to engage directly with the local audience while reinforcing its commitment to Paralympic sport in Romania.
