BetBlocker expands with Turkish language support
BetBlocker has launched Turkish language support for its free gambling-blocking software, expanding access to an estimated 90 million Turkish speakers worldwide.

The update follows a year of rapid growth for the charity, with more than 300,000 users activating blocks in 2025 as demand for gambling harm support continued to rise.

The rollout is part of BetBlocker’s ongoing localisation strategy, which focuses on making its tools more accessible by offering them in users’ native languages. The organisation stresses that clear and familiar language can be critical in moments of crisis, when individuals may struggle with complicated technical instructions while trying to restrict their gambling activity.

Concerns about gambling-related harm among Turkish-speaking communities have also intensified. Yeşilay, a major support organisation in Turkey, reports that requests for help with gambling issues now surpass those linked to alcohol, tobacco, and substance use, particularly among younger people. This trend has highlighted the need for easily accessible prevention tools tailored to the language needs of affected populations.

Founder and Trustee Duncan Garvie said BetBlocker is “genuinely excited” to introduce its second language expansion of 2026, noting that improved accessibility has been a key factor behind the charity’s recent growth. He added that providing support in the language users feel most comfortable with helps remove barriers at the moment they decide to seek help. Garvie also acknowledged the contribution of volunteer clinical psychologist Fatmatuz Zehra Pehlivan, who assisted with translating the application into Turkish.

BetBlocker operates independently as a charity, offering free and anonymous blocking software that works across multiple devices and jurisdictions. The Turkish launch follows the introduction of Greek language support in January 2026, the organisation’s first expansion of the year. Previous localisation efforts in countries such as Italy, France, and Japan have also led to significant increases in user uptake after native-language versions were released, reinforcing the importance of language accessibility in tackling gambling-related harm globally.
