Esports Team SENZA Suspended Amid Anti-Corruption Investigation
Last update: 12 October, 2025
ESIC emphasized that the interim suspension is a precautionary measure and does not imply any determination of guilt. All ESIC Member Events, as well as tournaments that have adopted the ESIC Integrity Program, have been requested to uphold the ban during the investigation. The suspension applies to all current rostered players, coaches, and team staff.
The investigation reportedly covers several potential breaches, including the use of prohibited outside information during competition, account-sharing, identity irregularities, and betting-related misconduct connected to matches involving SENZA. While specifics on what evidence might trigger further action have not been disclosed, ESIC has opened a window for the team and associated personnel to respond and provide information or materials relevant to the inquiry.
Team SENZA competes across multiple esports titles, primarily Rocket League, and was previously known under a different name before its acquisition by SENZA Esports last year. The team’s suspension means it cannot participate in any ESIC-sanctioned events or tournaments following the Integrity Program guidelines until the investigation is concluded.
Although ESIC has requested that member tournaments comply with the ban, its authority to enforce participation restrictions is not absolute. Compliance is voluntary for tournaments that have adopted the Integrity Program, highlighting that the suspension serves more as a coordinated recommendation than a legally binding mandate. No specific timeline has been provided for the completion of the investigation or for the announcement of any final verdict. ESIC has stated it will release a public statement once a conclusion is reached.
The suspension comes amid a period of rapid growth in esports wagering, particularly among younger audiences. Industry experts, such as Moritz Maurer, have highlighted at events like SiGMA Euro-Med in Malta that esports presents more frequent and meaningful betting opportunities compared with traditional sports, further underscoring the importance of integrity measures.
In a related development, ESIC recently welcomed Betby as its newest Tier 1 Anti-Corruption Partner, strengthening its efforts to uphold fairness across competitive gaming. The SENZA case serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges in maintaining integrity within the expanding esports ecosystem, particularly as betting and competitive play increasingly intersect.
