GRAI Seeks Executive Officer to Support Ireland’s Expanding Gambling Regulation Framework

As the GRAI continues to expand its presence and authority, this role is a vital first-level management position aimed at supporting the development and execution of regulatory and operational initiatives that promote safer gambling and public protection.

The successful candidate will join a panel of Executive Officers tasked with helping shape and implement the GRAI’s regulatory framework. This includes key responsibilities such as policy development, compliance monitoring, research and data handling, stakeholder engagement, and general administrative support. Reporting directly to senior management, Executive Officers may be assigned to departments including Licensing, Consumer Protection, or Technology. Duties range from drafting reports and coordinating projects to managing internal and external communications.

This is a pivotal time to join the Authority, which is still in its foundational phase. The Executive Officer will play an active role in shaping how Ireland’s gambling industry is regulated, helping to ensure it operates fairly, transparently, and with a strong emphasis on consumer protection and harm prevention.

Candidates must hold a Level 7 qualification or higher and possess at least three years of relevant professional experience. They will also be expected to demonstrate strong competencies aligned with public service values—particularly in communication, analysis, people management, and delivering results. Certain eligibility conditions apply, including restrictions for individuals who have availed of early retirement or redundancy schemes in the public service. Applicants must also meet specific citizenship or residency criteria.

This recruitment follows GRAI’s recent issuance of licensing guidelines that introduced a 28-day notice period for new applications, as well as a memorandum of understanding signed with Gibraltar to strengthen cross-border regulatory collaboration.
