Hard Rock Confirms Construction Progress on Guitar-Shaped Las Vegas Resort Ahead of 2027 Opening
Hard Rock International has provided a fresh construction update on its landmark guitar-shaped hotel and casino development in Las Vegas, confirming that the project is progressing steadily toward its planned opening in late 2027.

According to Joe Lupo, President of Hard Rock Las Vegas, construction crews have now completed 28 of the building’s expected 42 stories. The resort is rising on the former site of The Mirage, one of the Las Vegas Strip’s most iconic properties prior to its closure in 2024.

Once completed, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is set to become one of the Strip’s most distinctive additions. The development will feature close to 3,600 hotel rooms, approximately 175,000 square feet of gaming space, and multiple live entertainment venues. Lupo explained that the lower 100 feet of the structure will accommodate the first five floors of the property, while the remaining 560 feet of the tower will house 675 hotel rooms and suites within the guitar-shaped design.

The project follows Hard Rock’s acquisition of The Mirage from MGM Resorts International in 2022 for $1.075bn. The Mirage officially ceased operations on July 17, 2024, allowing demolition and redevelopment work to begin. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is currently targeting a fourth-quarter 2027 opening, pending construction timelines.

Hard Rock International is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, which has continued to expand the brand’s presence across the US through major hospitality and gaming investments.

Away from Nevada, the operator has also recently celebrated the opening of Hard Rock Casino Tejon. In November 2025, Hard Rock and the Tejon Indian Tribe marked the launch with a ceremonial guitar smash, a tribal blessing, and a $100,000 charitable donation ahead of the public opening.

The $600m Tejon project generated more than 5,000 construction jobs and over 1,000 permanent roles, making it the largest private hospitality investment in Kern County. The casino includes 150,000 square feet of gaming space, more than 2,000 slot machines, over 50 table games, and dedicated high-limit VIP areas. A second phase will add a 400-room hotel tower and a 2,800-seat Hard Rock Live entertainment venue designed for concerts, performances, and sporting events.
