Manchester United Agree Record £20m-Per-Year Betway Training Kit Sponsorship
Last update: 30 May, 2026
The multi-year partnership is being described as the most valuable training wear sponsorship in football history and will see Betway branding featured on the club’s training apparel from the beginning of the 2026/27 season.
The agreement comes at a significant moment for the football and gambling industries. From next season, Premier League clubs will no longer be permitted to display betting brands as front-of-shirt sponsors under new league regulations. However, betting operators will still be able to maintain a presence through alternative marketing channels, including sleeve sponsorships, training kit partnerships and pitch-side advertising.
For Betway, the reported deal highlights a strategic shift towards these remaining sponsorship opportunities as restrictions on traditional shirt sponsorships take effect. The company already has a strong footprint across European football and other major sporting competitions, making Manchester United one of the most prominent additions to its sponsorship portfolio.
Manchester United’s matchday shirts will continue to carry the branding of technology company Snapdragon under a separate commercial agreement that runs through 2029. The new Betway partnership is expected to further strengthen the club’s commercial revenues and reinforce its position among the world’s most marketable sports brands.
The sponsorship announcement follows a positive financial update from Manchester United. The club recently reported an operating profit of £37.7 million for the nine months ending 31 March, reflecting improved financial performance both on and off the pitch. Additional income generated through sponsorship agreements such as the Betway deal could provide greater financial flexibility as the club prepares for the summer transfer market.
The development also comes amid wider changes within the UK gambling sector. The Gambling Commission recently extended the deadline for operators to implement new deposit limit requirements, moving the date from 30 June to 30 September 2026.
Meanwhile, Manchester United ended the Premier League season on a high note, securing a third-place finish and guaranteeing a return to UEFA Champions League competition next season, further enhancing the club’s commercial appeal to global sponsors.
