Merkur Group Secures Nevada Licence, Marking US Comeback
Merkur Group has officially re-entered the US gaming market after receiving a licence from the Nevada Gaming Commission to manufacture and distribute gaming products in the state.

The move marks the German company’s return to Nevada after more than two decades, reinforcing its ambitions to expand its global footprint in the regulated casino sector.

This regulatory green light also includes approval for Merkur’s planned acquisition of Las Vegas-based Gaming Arts LLC, a licensed gaming equipment supplier. The acquisition, expected to close in early Q3 2025 pending final conditions, will further bolster Merkur’s position in the US market by providing an established operational base in Nevada. Gaming Arts is currently licensed in more than 155 jurisdictions, offering Merkur a significant boost in both reach and regulatory credentials.

Merkur was first licensed in Nevada in 1998 but withdrew from the US market in the early 2000s. The recent approval not only marks its formal comeback as a certified manufacturer and distributor but also reflects the company’s strategic shift toward long-term international expansion. The Group now operates in over 90 countries.

Michael Gauselmann, Chairman of Merkur’s Supervisory Board, emphasized the significance of the approval: “With approval from Nevada, this moment serves to highlight and underscore the Merkur Group's legally compliant and forward-looking approach in all areas without exception.”

Echoing this sentiment, Lars Felderhoff, Chairman of the Management Board, described the licence as a “key strategic lever” that will help drive Merkur’s international growth and provide a foundation for long-term success.

Merkur’s re-entry into the Nevada market comes amid a wider trend of renewed interest and investment in the state by global gaming firms. Notably, sportsbook technology provider Kambi has also gained approval to operate in Nevada, underlining the growing competitiveness and strategic importance of the market.

The combination of the new licence and the pending acquisition signals a decisive step forward for Merkur Group’s US ambitions, positioning it to compete more effectively in one of the world’s most dynamic and highly regulated gaming environments.
