Playtech Launches Live Casino in Finland with Veikkaus

This latest development builds on their collaboration, which began in February 2024, and establishes Playtech as Veikkaus’ first live casino supplier. Following regulatory approval and a seamless integration of Playtech’s live games into Veikkaus’ platform, the partnership continues to expand its scope, enhancing the operator’s offerings in the Finnish market.

The collaboration between the two companies already spans several sectors, including online poker, virtual lottery terminals (VLTs), and a casino management system. By adding live casino games to its portfolio, Veikkaus aims to deliver a premium gaming experience tailored to local market preferences. Playtech Commercial Director Fredrik Sylvander emphasized the importance of this milestone, highlighting the tailored solutions and cutting-edge technology designed specifically for Finnish players. The partnership comes during a period of rapid growth and diversification for Playtech. November saw the supplier extend its 20-year partnership with Continent 8 Technologies, as well as secure a new mobile sportsbook and casino deal with Delaware North. Additionally, Playtech recently expanded its partnership with Bar One Racing, showcasing its commitment to strengthening its presence in key markets. Earlier this year, Playtech also made headlines with the €2.3 billion ($2.42 billion) sale of its Italian sports betting and gaming subsidiary, Snaitech, to Flutter Entertainment.

For Veikkaus, this launch aligns with its strategy to enhance its offerings despite operating within a tightly regulated environment. The operator recently introduced Greentube to the Finnish market, further diversifying its gaming portfolio. However, the company also faced challenges, including a €2.9 million fine for advertising breaches, underscoring the complexities of operating in a market with strict regulatory oversight.
