Sportingbet and Betano battle for Santos main sponsorship ahead of 2026 season
Brazil’s betting sponsorship market is heading for another high-profile showdown, with Sportingbet and Betano emerging as the leading contenders to become the new main shirt sponsor of Santos.

Santos are currently without a lead sponsor following the early termination of their agreement with 7k, creating urgency for the club as it restructures its commercial portfolio ahead of the 2026 season. Sportingbet, already the main sponsor of Palmeiras, has entered negotiations and is reportedly prepared to submit an offer exceeding the BR51m ($9.2m) Santos received from 7k in 2025 before that deal was cut short.

The original contract with 7k had been scheduled to run until April 2027, but was rescinded after just eight months. As a result, Santos forfeited an additional BR54m that would have been payable in 2026, leaving a significant gap in the club’s commercial revenues.

Even with an improved proposal, Sportingbet’s offer would remain well below the BR100m per year it currently pays Palmeiras for its primary sponsorship. According to sources close to the negotiations, the operator is seeking to redirect funds initially earmarked for performance-related bonuses linked to Palmeiras’ 2025 campaign. With Palmeiras failing to secure any major titles last season, those bonuses were never triggered and are now available for reallocation.

Despite Sportingbet’s aggressive push, Betano is widely regarded internally as the frontrunner. The operator currently holds the most lucrative club sponsorship in Brazilian football after agreeing to pay BR268.5m per year to Flamengo under a deal signed in August 2025. Notably, Sportingbet and Betano previously went head-to-head during Flamengo’s sponsorship process, which ultimately ended in Betano’s favour.

Santos are keen to conclude negotiations swiftly. In addition to losing 7k, the club does not expect renewals from several secondary shirt sponsors, further increasing the need for a new flagship partner. While 7k branding remains temporarily visible on Santos kits due to outstanding contractual deliveries, the club’s marketing department is pressing ahead with a broader commercial overhaul ahead of the Campeonato Paulista.
