Sportradar Expands to São Paulo Ahead of Brazil’s Sports Betting Regulation!
Sportradar has established its 28th global office in São Paulo, positioning itself ahead of the full regulation of Brazil's sports betting market, set to commence in early 2025.

This strategic move underscores the company’s intent to solidify its presence in one of the most promising markets in the industry.

Brazil's sports betting sector has garnered significant attention due to its revenue potential. Projections indicate that online gross gaming revenue (GGR) will more than double within the next five years, increasing from R$18.4 billion (US$3.18 billion) in 2023 to an estimated R$50.5 billion by 2029. By establishing operations in São Paulo, Sportradar aims to foster stronger relationships with local partners and build a robust foundation for future growth in the region.

Eduard Blonk, Sportradar’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the company's commitment to the Brazilian market, citing the country’s large population and deep-rooted passion for sports, particularly football, as key drivers for growth. He also highlighted Sportradar’s dedication to maintaining the integrity of Brazilian sports, aligning with its global mission of fostering a responsible and sustainable industry within regulated frameworks.

The move aligns with industry trends, where companies are tailoring their strategies to meet the specific demands of the Brazilian market. Stake Brazil, for instance, was recently included on the list of authorized betting operators, while partnerships such as The Unit with Sportingtech and Kambi with Rei do Pitaco highlight the collaborative approaches being employed to maximize opportunities. Other licensed operators in Brazil include Aposta Ganha, Fazi, and Booming Games.

However, despite its promise, the Brazilian market faces some regulatory uncertainty. In mid-November, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security issued a preliminary order banning advertisements for casino bonuses, threatening non-compliant operators with daily fines of R$50,000.

Sportradar's proactive establishment of a local presence reflects confidence in navigating these challenges while leveraging Brazil’s immense market potential. The São Paulo office is expected to play a critical role in strengthening the company’s foothold in Latin America and contributing to the evolution of Brazil's sports betting industry.
