Superbet Group Joins EGBA to Strengthen Commitment to Safer Gambling and Compliance Across Europe
Last update: 31 October, 2024
This membership allows Superbet to directly support EGBA’s objectives, which aim to raise industry standards, promote safer gambling, and strengthen anti-money laundering (AML) practices across European markets.
The timing of Superbet’s EGBA membership coincides with pivotal regulatory shifts expected from the European Commission, particularly affecting the digital and online gaming sectors. Superbet will contribute to key initiatives within EGBA, specifically in the areas of responsible advertising, safer gambling practices, and enhanced AML compliance. This partnership underscores Superbet’s proactive stance on regulatory issues, aligning with the anticipated introduction of new European Union legislation designed to address and oversee digital markets, including the online gambling industry.
Albert Simsensohn, Chief Operating Officer of Superbet Group, highlighted the significance of this development for the company: “This is an important chapter in our journey, as becoming members of EGBA demonstrates our commitment to nurture sustainable growth for our company, while adhering to the highest standards of compliance across all our markets. We are prepared to work closely with EGBA, exchanging industry best practices and ensuring that our industry operates in a fair and properly regulated European environment.”
EGBA Secretary General, Maarten Haijer, expressed enthusiasm about the addition of Superbet to the association: “We’re delighted to welcome Superbet Group to EGBA, further strengthening our industry representation. Superbet’s expertise and market focus will be invaluable as EGBA continues its drive to set high industry standards and promote a safe and competitive online gambling environment in Europe. We look forward to working with our new colleagues.”
This announcement follows a significant milestone for EGBA earlier this year when it endorsed the EU’s latest anti-money laundering package. This comprehensive package includes the establishment of the European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA), alongside the 6th Anti-Money Laundering Directive and a new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR). These reforms demonstrate a heightened commitment to combating financial crimes and reinforcing transparency within the digital gambling sector.
As Superbet joins EGBA, the collaboration is set to leverage the group’s extensive market experience to support EGBA’s mission of fostering a more robust regulatory framework. With ongoing efforts to improve compliance and safeguard players, this partnership is well-positioned to respond effectively to upcoming EU regulatory changes and reinforce industry accountability.
