Thai Police Bust Online Gambling Ring, Seize THB 56 Million in Assets

The operation was led by the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) and is part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal betting platforms in the country.

The raid, carried out early in the morning in the Klong Nueng area of Klong Luang district, targeted a luxury residence linked to the website Auto888vip. Police say the property served as a central base for the illegal operation, which allegedly ran from December 2024 to May 2025. The raid was executed under a search warrant issued by the Pathum Thani court and an arrest warrant from the Khon Kaen court.

The main suspect, identified as 30-year-old Taweesak, was apprehended at the scene. He is believed to have managed the website’s financial transactions, specifically overseeing withdrawals and reaping profits from the platform’s activities. According to police, Auto888vip had approximately 3,000 active users and saw a circulation of nearly THB 100 million ($2.7 million) annually.

Among the seized assets were two luxury vehicles valued at THB 15 million, a house worth THB 7 million, and THB 28 million in cash. Authorities suspect that these assets were acquired using profits from the illegal gambling business.

The CCIB emphasized that the investigation is far from over, with a manhunt now underway for additional suspects believed to be part of the same network. Officials have vowed to continue dismantling illegal online gambling rings, which remain active across the country despite repeated law enforcement efforts.

Thailand has significantly increased pressure on digital gambling platforms in recent years, citing concerns over financial crimes, addiction, and social harm. This latest bust underscores the scale and sophistication of such operations — and law enforcement’s growing resolve to shut them down.
