Wayne Pickup to Step Down as CEO of Allwyn North America After Eight-Year Tenure
Last update: 26 July, 2025
Pickup, who has overseen a period of expansion and strategic transformation, will remain in post until 14 November to ensure a smooth transition as the search begins for his successor.
Robert Chvátal, CEO of the Allwyn Group, confirmed the leadership transition and emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum across the company’s North American ventures. “We have begun the search for Wayne’s successor, who will continue driving growth in the Illinois Lottery and the expansion of our wider North American business over the coming months and years,” said Chvátal.
Allwyn expressed its gratitude to Pickup for his instrumental role in establishing the company’s presence in North America. Under his leadership, Allwyn North America was formed following the acquisition of the Camelot Group’s assets in the region. This included the rebranding of Camelot Illinois as Allwyn North America in 2023, a move that aligned with the company’s growing international ambitions.
Pickup has played a pivotal role during this transformative phase. Following Allwyn’s successful bid in 2022 to operate the UK National Lottery—an agreement that began in February 2024—he was involved in the company’s acquisition of Camelot’s various brands to streamline its global footprint. Reflecting on his departure, Pickup expressed pride in his tenure and confidence in the team he leaves behind. “I want to thank Allwyn for the trust they placed in me. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and confident in the strong foundations we’ve built for the future.”
Allwyn continues to expand its footprint across the United States. It currently operates the Illinois and Michigan lotteries and recently announced a partnership with the DC Lottery to launch e-instant games in Washington, DC. The company remains focused on growing lottery revenues, engaging players, and serving local communities—objectives that will now move forward under new leadership.
Though the identity of Pickup’s successor is yet to be confirmed, the incoming executive will inherit a company in strong shape and positioned for continued growth in the dynamic North American market.
