William Hill Names Jockey Keith Donoghue as New Brand Ambassador
Last update: 12 December, 2024
Donoghue, an accomplished jockey, becomes the third active rider to sign on as a William Hill ambassador this year, following the appointments of J J Slevin and Sean Flanagan earlier in 2024.
In his new role, Donoghue will deliver exclusive content through a regular column on William Hill’s website, sharing expert insights, race previews, and analysis. His contributions will also extend to video content across the operator’s social media platforms, offering fans behind-the-scenes updates and commentary.
This appointment strengthens William Hill’s focus on horseracing, which earlier this year saw trainer Gavin Cromwell and broadcaster Jane Mangan join its ambassadorial team. Donoghue’s dual role as lead jockey for Cromwell presents unique opportunities for collaboration during major racing events, particularly as the 2025 festival season approaches.
Commenting on the partnership, Andrew McCleave, William Hill Ireland’s Head of Marketing, expressed enthusiasm about Donoghue’s involvement: “We are delighted to have Keith Donoghue join our stable of ambassadors at William Hill. Keith is a phenomenal jockey, and we can’t wait to see what the festival season has in store for him this year. As lead jockey for Gavin Cromwell, he has some great opportunities ahead, and we’ll be there to share exclusive updates, interviews, and more across our social channels.”
Looking ahead, William Hill is gearing up for its sponsorship of the Cheltenham Festival County Handicap Hurdle in March 2025, reinforcing its commitment to horseracing. Despite facing challenges earlier in the year, including an ASA complaint regarding bonus advertisements, the bookmaker has continued to expand its presence in sports. Notably, it recently partnered with the Scottish Professional Football League (SFPL) to launch a gambling harm prevention initiative.
In other horseracing developments, New Zealand’s Racing Minister proposed legislative amendments aimed at bolstering the country’s racing industry’s sustainability, highlighting the sector’s global focus on long-term growth.
With Donoghue now onboard, William Hill is poised to offer racing enthusiasts even greater access to expert commentary and exclusive content, further solidifying its position within the sport.
