The English League Cup quarter-final match between Chelsea and Newcastle is scheduled for next Thursday!
Prior to that, Chelsea dealt with Sheffield United (2:0) in the Premier League, thanks to which they rose to tenth position. The Blues are much more successful in the League Cup, where teams such as Wimbledon (2:1), Brighton (1:0) and Blackburn (2:0) previously fell victim to them. Thus, Pochettino’s men still have a chance of winning some kind of trophy at the end of the season.
In the previous campaign, Newcastle reached the League Cup final, where they lost 0:2 to Manchester United. And now the Magpies are reaching their goal through triumphs over Manchester City (1:0) and the aforementioned Manchester United (3:0). And victories 3:0 win over Fulham in the Premier League lifted Howe's men to sixth place in the standings.
Newcastle's level is perhaps higher, but Chelsea will play at home and have much smaller squad losses. As for us, the maximum achievement for Newcastle will be a draw, and in the worst case for themselves, they will lose with a difference of one goal.
