This Monday, Senegal will play Gambia in the first round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage!
Senegal are one of the strongest teams on the continent, as evidenced by reaching the round of 16 of the previous World Cup. It should be noted that in preparation for the continental tournament, the Lions of Teranga dealt with Cameroon (1:0), South Sudan (4:0) and Niger (1:0), drew 0:0 with Togo and lost 0:1 to Algeria.
At the same time, Gambia recorded victories over Mali (1:0) and South Sudan (3:2), after which there were three misfires in a row in confrontations with Congo (2:2), Burundi (2:3) and Ivory Coast (0:2). It should be noted that in the FIFA rankings the Red-Blues are only in 126th place.
The undisputed favorites of this pair are Senegal, which are now in fairly good shape. We wouldn’t be surprised if the favorites beat the frankly weak Gambia with at least a two-fold advantage in the score.
