The confrontation between the national teams of Canada and Uruguay will take place this weekend and will determine the winner of third place at the 2024 Copa America!
For a historic qualification to the playoffs of the continental forum, Canada only needed four points, earned in duels with Argentina (0:2), Peru (1:0) and Chile (0:0). In the quarter finals, the Maples defeated Venezuela in a penalty shootout after 1:1 in regular and extra time, and then predictably were eliminated by Argentina - 0:2.
Under the leadership of Bielsa, Uruguay returned to the cohort of the strongest teams in South America, and three victories in a row over Panama (3:1), Bolivia (5:0) and the USA (1:0) are clear confirmation of this. In addition, the Celestes sensationally defeated Brazil in the quarterfinals (1:0), but they were no longer strong enough to defeat Colombia - 0:1.
In our opinion, Uruguay are justifiably considered the clear favorites of this pair, given their more impressive squad potential. The nominal guests also have enough motivation, so they definitely won’t miss out.
