On Friday night will be another match of the 1/32 final of the FA Cup, in which Aston Villa will face West Ham.
At the moment, Aston Villa occupies the eighth position in the APL, being in the thick of the fight for the European Cup zone. The Christmas-New Year period was not without losses - the triumphs over Manchester City (2:1) and Leicester (2:1) were replaced by misfires with Nottingham (1:2), Newcastle (0:3) and Brighton (2:2).
West Ham beat 1:0 the main league outsider Southampton, made peace 1:1 with Bournemouth and 1:1 with Brighton, and was also weaker than Liverpool (0:5) and Manchester City (1:4). It was these defeats that caused the Hammers to drop to fourteenth place, with a real threat of relegation.
As for us, Aston Villa has a good chance in practice to prove its status as the favorite of the pair and break the resistance of a crisis opponent, which in the second part of the season will focus on the championship.
