The final match of the twenty-sixth Bundesliga round will see Stuttgart take on Bayer in what promises to be an engaging contest.
Stuttgart, last season’s surprise runners-up, find themselves in a more modest eighth place this time around, with 37 points and a goal difference of 44:39. Their recent form has been inconsistent, as a 2:1 victory over Borussia Dortmund was followed by setbacks against Wolfsburg (1:2), Hoffenheim (1:1), Bayern (1:3), and Holstein Kiel (2:2).
Meanwhile, Bayer have held firm in second place with 53 points and a goal tally of 55:30. Since early February, the Pharmacists have secured wins over Holstein Kiel (2:0) and Eintracht Frankfurt (4:1), while drawing 0:0 against both Wolfsburg and Bayern. However, their momentum took a hit with a disappointing 0:2 defeat to Werder Bremen last weekend.
Bayer's superior squad depth makes them slight favorites, but Stuttgart have enough attacking quality to make their mark. While the hosts should manage to find the net, it’s unlikely to be enough to claim all three points.
