BetBlocker Expands Reach with French Language Support
Last update: 31 March, 2025
With this addition, the safer gambling tool now supports 20 languages, reinforcing BetBlocker’s mission to make responsible gambling tools accessible across diverse communities.
The expansion comes at a crucial time, considering the estimated 34 million gamblers in France, as well as significant French-speaking populations in Canada and various African nations. By breaking language barriers, BetBlocker aims to provide much-needed support to individuals seeking protection from gambling-related harm. The charity’s commitment to accessibility aligns with its broader goal of increasing awareness and adoption of safer gambling solutions across different regions.
BetBlocker Founder and Trustee Duncan Garvie emphasized the strategic importance of this update: “I’m really pleased to open up BetBlocker to French-speaking communities. With the recent launch of the US arm of our charity, raising our profile in North America is a strategic priority. This launch helps us support our French Canadian friends. Beyond this, I’m always keen to do whatever we can to support the emerging markets in Africa. This is an underserved community where a free and anonymous service like BetBlocker can make a meaningful difference to a lot of lives.”
The announcement also comes ahead of Garvie’s scheduled appearance at the Playsponsible Academy in Vienna on 3 April 2025, where he will discuss the latest developments in safer gambling, including BetBlocker’s ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility.
BetBlocker is a free, anonymous app that blocks access to over 90,000 gambling websites and 1,500 gambling apps, offering users a crucial layer of protection against problem gambling. The organization expressed gratitude to Xavi D. and Christina Theophilos for their dedication to delivering the French translation, acknowledging their efforts in making this milestone possible.
With this latest expansion, BetBlocker continues to solidify its position as a leading force in responsible gambling, ensuring that more individuals worldwide can access the tools they need to maintain control over their gambling habits.
