On Sunday night into Monday, the United States will face Haiti in the final match of Group D at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Americans, clear favorites of the group, have fully lived up to expectations so far. They opened with a dominant 5–0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, followed by a more restrained but effective 1–0 victory over Saudi Arabia. With six points and a 6:0 goal difference, the USA are firmly top of the group and cannot be overtaken.
Haiti, meanwhile, sit third with just one point from two games. They narrowly lost 0–1 to Saudi Arabia before managing a respectable 1–1 draw against Trinidad and Tobago. Considering their limited strength even by regional standards, these results aren’t disastrous for the Grenadiers.
Given the context, the United States has little need to push too hard. Even a rotated squad should have enough quality and depth to comfortably outclass Haiti. It’s likely that the Americans will settle the result early, potentially deciding the match before the break.
