On Sunday evening, Leicester City will face Sheffield Wednesday in the opening round of the Championship.
Once a strong and stable team, Leicester has recently slipped into the role of a yo-yo club, oscillating between divisions, but it wouldn't be surprising to see them challenge for promotion again this season. During the summer, the Foxes showed promising form, beating Peterborough (3-1), Leuven (2-1), Zalaegerszeg (1-0), Karpaty (2-1), and Fiorentina (2-0), despite a setback against Cologne (1-3).
In stark contrast, Sheffield Wednesday enters the campaign weighed down by severe financial troubles, making them a clear relegation candidate. The Owls struggled to even hold a full training camp and played only one match in July, where they were convincingly beaten by Lincoln (1-3).
Given these circumstances, Leicester looks set to assert their quality from the very start. It seems unlikely Sheffield Wednesday will be able to offer much resistance given their current struggles.
