France vs Iceland Prediction 9 September 2025

The 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign continues this Tuesday with a clash between France and Iceland.

France come into the game full of confidence after a comfortable 2–0 win over Ukraine, a result that put them firmly on course for first place in the group. Earlier this summer, Les Bleus featured in the UEFA Nations League finals: after a dramatic 4–5 defeat to Spain in the semifinal, they bounced back with a convincing 2–0 victory over Germany in the third-place playoff.

Iceland, on the other hand, endured a rough Nations League playoff against Kosovo, suffering back-to-back defeats (1–2, 1–3) that confirmed their drop to Division C. In June, the Vikings tested themselves in friendlies, beating Scotland 3–1 before losing 0–1 to Northern Ireland. Their World Cup qualifying campaign began on a brighter note, with a commanding 5–0 win over Azerbaijan.

Still, the gulf in quality between the two sides is undeniable. On home soil, France are expected to dictate the tempo and show little mercy. Anything short of a dominant victory—by at least three goals—would be a surprise.
