In the central clash of the third Bundesliga round, two Champions League participants, Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt, will go head-to-head.
Bayer’s start to the season has been disappointing. The “Pharmacists” fell 1:2 at home to Hoffenheim and squandered a two-goal lead in a 3:3 draw with Werder. They did, however, cruise past Grossaspach 4:0 in the national cup. Still, instability remains, as the international break brought a second coaching change in just three months.
Eintracht, meanwhile, lost several of their attacking leaders over the summer, which makes another top-four finish a tough ask. Nevertheless, the Eagles continue to rely on the same aggressive, vertical style of play that served them so well last season. The result: two emphatic wins to start the campaign—4:1 over Werder and 3:1 against Hoffenheim.
At this point, Eintracht look no weaker than a Leverkusen side still in transition. Given their sharper form and tactical continuity, the Frankfurt club has every chance of securing a positive result in this matchup.
