Manchester City F.C. vs Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. Prediction 7 January 2026
Added on 05 January, 2026
Manchester City host Brighton in the 21st round of the Premier League, and this one has all the ingredients for goals.
City come into the fixture after two consecutive draws — a goalless stalemate with Sunderland and a 1–1 against Chelsea. Those results have kept them second in the table on 42 points, with an impressive 44–18 goal difference, but the gap to the leaders has stretched to six points. Still, it would be unfair to question their form too much: in the second half of December, the Citizens convincingly dispatched Crystal Palace (3–0), West Ham (3–0), and Nottingham Forest (2–1), showing their usual depth and attacking fluency.
Brighton arrive with slightly renewed confidence after beating Burnley 2–0, a win that snapped a frustrating run of results against Liverpool (0–2), Sunderland (0–0), Arsenal (1–2), and West Ham (2–2). The Seagulls currently sit tenth with 28 points and a 30–27 goal difference — solid, but clearly a level below the title contenders.
Both sides are committed to proactive, attacking football, which should make for an open and entertaining contest. Brighton are capable of causing problems on the break, but City’s squad depth, quality across the pitch, and home advantage at the Etihad feel decisive.
Goals at both ends, but Manchester City should have enough firepower and control to edge this one at home.
Manchester City to win and over 2.5 goals in the match 1.77
