The second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Chelsea will be played this coming Tuesday, with the Gunners holding a narrow but valuable advantage.
Arsenal arrive in excellent form. Last week, they finished top of their UEFA Champions League group with a perfect record, while a commanding 4–0 win over Leeds United kept them at the summit of the Premier League. Their League Cup run has also been convincing, with victories over Port Vale, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Crystal Palace.
Chelsea’s path to the semi-finals was noticeably kinder. The Blues eliminated Lincoln City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Cardiff City. Over the weekend, they produced an impressive comeback win against West Ham United (3–2), keeping themselves in the race for a Champions League place.
Arsenal’s 3–2 win in the first leg gives them the upper hand heading into the return match. With their current momentum and the backing of their home crowd, another victory for the Gunners would come as no surprise.
