In the opening match of the twenty-fifth Bundesliga matchday, Bayern Munich will face Borussia Dortmund in another high-profile clash between two of Germany’s biggest clubs.
Bayern continue to dominate the league this season. With 63 points and a huge 88:23 goal difference, the Munich side sits comfortably at the top of the table and is only a few weeks away from securing another championship. After a 2–2 draw with Hamburg, the Bavarians quickly returned to winning form, beating Hoffenheim 5–1, Werder Bremen 3–0, Eintracht Frankfurt 3–2, and Borussia Dortmund 3–2. Their attack remains one of the most productive in Europe, consistently creating and converting chances.
Dortmund, on the other hand, have struggled for consistency. They managed a narrow 1–0 win over Union Berlin but then drew 1–1 with Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen before suffering defeats to Eintracht Frankfurt (0–3) and Freiburg (1–2). As a result, the team currently sits in twelfth place with 25 points and a 27:39 goal difference, leaving them closer to the relegation zone than the European spots.
In my view, Bayern may soon shift part of their focus toward the Champions League as the spring schedule intensifies. That could lead to a more relaxed approach in the Bundesliga. The hosts should still score plenty of goals, but Dortmund are capable of finding the net as well, making a lively and high-scoring game very possible.
