In the closing fixture of Serie A’s thirty-sixth round, Napoli will host Bologna in a clash between two sides heading in very different directions.
The Partenopei have already secured a Champions League place and sit comfortably in second with 70 points and a goal difference of 52:33. While they no longer have realistic hopes of catching the leaders, Napoli remain one of the strongest home teams in Italy and continue to show solid form in front of their own fans. Over their last five league outings, they defeated Milan 1-0 and crushed Cremonese 4-0, although dropped points against Parma (1-1) and Como (0-0), as well as a 2-0 defeat to Lazio, prevented them from mounting a serious title challenge.
Bologna’s campaign, meanwhile, has lost momentum at the worst possible moment. Victories over relegation-threatened Cremonese and Lecce briefly revived their European ambitions, but defeats to Juventus and Roma, combined with a goalless draw against Cagliari, pushed the Rossoblu down to ninth place. With 49 points and just 42 goals scored in 35 matches, Bologna’s attacking struggles have become increasingly obvious.
Considering Napoli’s dominance at home and Bologna’s lack of creativity in the final third, the hosts enter this encounter as deserved favorites. It is difficult to imagine the visitors causing enough problems offensively to stop the Neapolitans from taking all three points.
