St. Mirren vs Partick Thistle Prediction 25 May 2026

St. Mirren and Partick Thistle face off on May 25 in an important Premiership qualification matchup, with both clubs still fighting to secure their place in Scotland’s top division next season.

St. Mirren come into the game under pressure after a disappointing run of results. The Saints have won just once in their last six matches, losing four times while struggling badly at the defensive end. Steve Robinson’s men have conceded 13 goals during that stretch, and their lack of attacking efficiency has only added to the problem, with just five goals scored. Their recent 1-1 draw against Dundee United showed some resilience, but it also underlined how difficult they are finding it to turn decent performances into wins.

Despite their poor form, St. Mirren can at least take confidence from previous meetings with Partick Thistle. The hosts defeated the Jags 2-1 earlier this year and have generally enjoyed success in this fixture. Still, recent performances suggest confidence is far from high, especially considering they have managed only one clean sheet across their last six outings.

Partick Thistle, meanwhile, arrive with momentum on their side. Ian McCall’s team are unbeaten in six consecutive matches and have built their recent success on defensive discipline and organization. Although four of those games ended in draws, Thistle have conceded only five goals during the run, proving difficult to break down. The attack has not always been clinical, but in tense playoff football, defensive stability can often make the difference.

The visitors will also be eager to finally improve their recent record against St. Mirren after losing the last three meetings between the sides. If they can remain compact defensively and take advantage of the hosts’ shaky back line, another positive result looks very achievable.

Everything points toward a close and cautious encounter with few clear-cut opportunities. Given current form and defensive reliability, Partick Thistle appear well equipped to avoid defeat.

Prediction: Partick Thistle double chance (X2) — 1.38
