Armenia vs Portugal Prediction 6 September 2025

Group F representatives Armenia and Portugal will face off in the opening round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in the UEFA zone.

Armenia recently competed in Division C of the Nations League, where they finished second in their group. However, their hopes of promotion were crushed by neighbors Georgia, who inflicted heavy defeats (1:6 and 0:3). The Red-Whites then played two friendlies, losing 2:5 to Kosovo and drawing 2:2 with Montenegro — results that once again highlighted their defensive frailty.

Portugal, on the other hand, arrive with far greater pedigree. The Selecao are the reigning Nations League champions, having edged Spain on penalties after a 2:2 draw in the final. Earlier this year, they also claimed impressive victories over Denmark (0:1, 5:2) and Germany (2:1), underlining their credentials as one of the world’s strongest national teams.

On paper, Portugal’s superiority is undeniable, yet the demanding trip to the Caucasus could sap some energy. For that reason, it would not be surprising if the visitors opted for a controlled performance rather than an all-out display, potentially allowing Armenia to compete on equal footing for at least one half.
