Azerbaijan vs France Prediction 16 November 2025
Added on 14 November, 2025
With qualification secured de jure, France head to Baku for their sixth match of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, aiming to consolidate their dominance in Group D.
Azerbaijan’s run has offered few bright spots. Their only competitive showings came in spirited performances against Ukraine, earning a 1–1 draw at home and narrowly losing 2–1 away. Against stronger opposition, however, the team struggled badly: Iceland outclassed them 5–0 and 2–0, while France claimed a comfortable 3–0 win. Predictably, Azerbaijan sit fourth in the group with just one point and a frail goal difference of 2–13.
France, meanwhile, have been in command from the outset. Les Bleus top the group with 13 points and an impressive 13–3 goal record. Their autumn fixtures showed both their ceiling and their occasional vulnerabilities: they swept Ukraine aside with 4–0 and 2–0 victories, repeated a routine win over Azerbaijan (3–0), but encountered resistance from Iceland, edging a 2–1 win before being held to a 2–2 draw.
With their World Cup berth secured, France are expected to rotate heavily in Baku. Yet even a second-string French lineup is stacked with quality and motivation, often eager to prove itself when given opportunities. Azerbaijan, for all their defensive tenacity in moments, have rarely shown enough structure or attacking threat to trouble elite opposition.
Under these circumstances, another one-sided result appears likely. France should control the match comfortably from start to finish, and even without full intensity, the visitors are well-positioned to secure another convincing victory.
