Montenegro vs Croatia Prediction 17 November 2025

The Balkan derby between Montenegro and Croatia is set for this Monday as part of matchday eight in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Montenegro enter the fixture in fourth place with nine points and a 6–14 goal difference — numbers that neatly summarise their difficulties in competing for a World Cup or even a European Championship spot. In their most recent match, the Brave Falcons narrowly edged Gibraltar 2–1, but that result followed a series of heavy setbacks: consecutive 0–2 defeats to the Czech Republic, a 0–4 loss to Croatia, and a surprising 0–4 collapse against the Faroe Islands.

Croatia, by contrast, have handled their qualifying campaign with confidence and consistency. Over the same period, the Checkers recorded victories over the Faroe Islands (1–0, 3–1), Montenegro (4–0), and Gibraltar (3–0), while also drawing 0–0 with the Czech Republic. With one round still to play, they have already booked their ticket to the World Cup, holding first place with 19 points and a commanding 23–2 goal record.

Although Croatia arrive in excellent form, it remains unclear how much energy they will invest in an away match now that qualification is secured. The visitors should still have enough quality to see out the fixture, but another one-sided result like the reverse meeting seems unlikely.
